Launched in 2008, the NBC Digital Health Network is a new business created under the NBC Universal Digital Media group and is focused on the multi-platform distribution of premium health video. Utilizing the original, condition-specific and healthy living videos created weekly across the company, the NBC Digital Health Network enables increased patient education by providing its distribution partners with the robust content they need to create an informative viewing experience for the millions of users looking for health information wherever they may be.

The NBC Digital Health Network reaches consumers with relevant health and wellness information from multiple distribution platforms that include HealthVideo.com, The Patient Channel and The Newborn Channel. HealthVideo.com offers consumers a rich video library on health topics ranging from healthy aging to diseases and conditions to children's health. The Patient Channel provides credible and trusted television programming information to patients and their families in over 1,600 hospitals across the country.

The Newborn Channel produces baby care and postpartum programming for new parents in over 1,000 hospitals nationwide. Combined, they reach over18MM viewers annually. Other multi-platform distribution partners include Healthline Networks, RightHealth, Wellness Wireless and National Cable Communications (NCC) Spot Cable. Combined, the distribution reaches 30MM homes annually through VOD and 9MM viewers online.

Dr. Matthew Liss

Medical Reviewer, NBC Digital Health Network

 

Dr. Matthew Liss, a Board Certified physician who specializes in internal medicine and gastroenterology, is a Medical Reviewer for the NBC Digital Health Network, one of the leading producers and distributors of physician-generated health and medical information on the Internet for consumers, patients and health professionals.  He is currently the Health Services Physician at NBC Universal Medical Center.

 

Most recently, Dr. Liss was Medical Director and Physician Reviewer for Active Health Management, where he trained physicians, conducted research and wrote clinical protocols.  He also served as Medical Director for Teamster's United Wire Metal & Welfare Fund where he oversaw clinical services and coordinated in and out-of network care.  Additionally, Dr. Liss was a practicing physician and consultant with over 25 years experience in the medical field.

 

He is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania where he completed his major in Economics.  Dr. Liss went on to pursue medical studies at The State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center and completed his internship and residence at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital in New York.

 

 

Dr. Alan Saroff

Medical Reviewer, NBC Digital Health Network

 

Dr. Alan Saroff, a practicing, consultative cardiologist with over 30 years of experience, is a Medical Reviewer for the NBC Digital Health Network, one of the leading producers and distributors of physician-generated health and medical information on the Internet for consumers, patients and health professionals.

 

Dr.  Saroff is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Heart Association. He received subspecialty and research training in clinical pharmacology and electrophysiology and is expert in the management of complex problems of coronary artery and valvular heart disease, and arrhythmias. Dr. Saroff has served on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, New Jersey Affiliate and in 1994 was the recipient of the American Heart Association Certification of Appreciation. He has been designated as a New York Magazine "Top Doctor" and is regularly included in Castle-Connelly Best Physicians, New York City Metropolitan area since 2000. At Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, NJ he has served as Chief of Cardiology, President of the Medical Staff, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Atlantic Health Systems.

 

Dr. Saroff is also currently Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, as well as an Assistant Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Attending Physician at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ.  There, he held several administrative leadership roles from 1988-2006, most recently as Medical Director of Clinical Affairs.

 

In his early career, Dr. Saroff conducted his internship at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, followed by his residencies at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY and The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center in New York.

 

He is a graduate of The University of Vermont in Burlington and earned his MD at Upstate Medical Center
